Christian Values
Our Christian Values, which are rooted in scripture, are threaded through our school, our decision making and everything that we do.
Hope is at the heart of our Christian Values and all members of our school community aim to ‘live out’ our Christian Values in our actions and choices.
We adopt 6 Christian Values:
Truthfulness
John 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
We chose Truthfulness because:-
When we tell the truth our relationships grow stronger and richer. When we hold back the truth our relationships suffer including our relationship with ourselves. Telling the truth creates freedom and lightness.
Hope
Jeremiah 29:11 ''For I know the plans I have for you,'' declares the Lord, ''plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.'' (NIV)
We chose Hope because:-
We want to lead from a position of hope to support us to make bold and courageous decisions. We want hope to drive our curriculum, our language choices and our daily interactions. It is important to have hope in order to 'see there is light despite the darkness...' Desmond Tutu
Thankfulness
1 Thessalonians 5:18 ''Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Jesus Christ for you.''
We chose Thankfulness because:-
It is important to thank God for all our blessings. It makes you and other people feel uplifted when you are thankful.
Forgiveness
Ephesians 4:32 ''Be kind and compassionate, to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ forgave you.'' (NIV)
We chose Forgiveness because:-
It is the most important value in a human. If you forgive it gives you freedom to live in peace.
Courage
2 Timothy 1:7 ''For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, and of love, and of sound mind.'' (NKJV)
We chose Courage because:-
If you don’t step out of your comfort zone then you will live a life where you are scared of everything. Courage is not the absence of fear; it is acting in spite of fear knowing that with God's protection and guidance, we have nothing to fear and can conquer anything.
Justice
Micah 6:88 ''And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.'' (NIV)
We chose Justice because:-
This should be the impact of our curriculum and education as it should be calling us to see God's love in action. Our curriculum enables children to be courageous advocates and seek what is just and fair locally, nationally and globally - bringing light to the darkness.
Each half term we focus on one of our Christian values in collective worship and class reflection time. Our values are underpinned by our vision - 'A Future with Hope' Jeremiah 29:11.
