Routines in Year 4

This term we have swimming on a Monday afternoon and Gymnastics on a Thursday morning. Please ensure that your child has their swimming kit with them on Mondays and that their indoor and outdoor PE kit is in school on Thursdays. After school clubs start the week commencing Monday 16th September, if your child is attending an active club they will need their PE kit in school for that day also

As part of their homework, all children are expected to read 5 times per week. Reading diaries must be signed and in school every day, they will get checked daily in class. Spellings will be given out on a Monday and tested on a Friday, please ensure that your child is learning their spellings throughout the week.  Alternating maths and english homework tasks will be given out in homework books on a Wednesday and are to be completed and returned to school by Monday. In class we will continue to complete times table challenges twice a week, this will usually be on Tuesdays and Fridays.

All children have a login for times tables rockstars and mathletics inside their reading records, these games are a fun and interactive way for children to practise their times tables and other mathematical skills. As the year continues, I will be monitoring the childrens usage of these websites to support the development of times tables in Year 4.
