Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

If you feel that your child may have some additional need, please speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance. Our Inclusion leader Mrs. Mason is highly experienced in Special Educational Needs and she will also be able to offer advice and support.

We work closely with a range of outside agencies, for example Educational Psychology, Speech and Language, School Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Hearing Impaired Team, Visually impaired Team, The Autism Team and Community Paediatricians. If we feel that your child has Special Needs we may, with your permission, refer for further assessment or advice.

It may be that your child needs additional support in school. This could be in the form of intervention groups or may require a more intensive level of 1:1 support. Some children may require an Education, Health and Care plan or top up funding to help meet their needs. Mrs. Mason will fully support you through this process and explain each stage to you.

We are fully committed to ensuring that your child reaches their full potential and is well cared for at our school.

We are delighted to announce that in July 2015 we became a ‘Centre for Excellence’ for Inclusion. This reflects the extremely high standard of provision we achieve for each and every child, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

In 2016, we completed the Autism Service Social Communication Programme and are now recognised as an Autism Inclusive School.

Please see our SEN Information Report and SEND policy for further information.
