Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

If you feel that your child may have some additional need, please speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance. Our SENCO, Mrs Moss, will be able to offer additional advice and support. Please email/contact the school office if you would like to arrange a meeting with Mrs Moss.

We work closely with a range of outside agencies, for example Educational Psychology, Speech and Language, School Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Hearing Impaired Team, Visually impaired Team, The Autism Team and Community Paediatricians. If we feel that your child has Special Needs we may, with your permission, refer for further assessment or advice.

It may be that your child needs additional support in school. This could be in the form of intervention groups or may require a more intensive level of 1:1 support. Some children may require an Education, Health and Care plan or top up funding to help meet their needs. Mrs Moss will fully support you through this process and explain each stage to you.

We are fully committed to ensuring that your child reaches their full potential and is well cared for at our school.

We are delighted to announce that in July 2015 we became a ‘Centre for Excellence’ for Inclusion. This reflects the extremely high standard of provision we achieve for each and every child, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

In 2016, we completed the Autism Service Social Communication Programme and are now recognised as an Autism Inclusive School.

In 2017, we became an Attachment Friendly School, in recognition of the project undertaken with the Looked-After children team.

In 2018, we became a 'Flagship School' for Inclusion which reflects that we have continued to improve our provision to an even higher level. We maintained this standard again in 2019.
