Our Curriculum Intent

Every child at St Chad’s has access to a curriculum designed to inspire awe and wonder and give every child a future with hope.

At St Chad’s we follow the Primary National Curriculum and enrich it with themes, experiences, and connections. We then underpin it all with our Christian Values.

What If Analysis: the definition, how to use and example | toolshero

As a church school we want children to ask this question. It helps to develop the Christian distinctiveness of our school by encouraging children to question how their learning can be linked to Christian values and the wider impact on the world.

Passionate teachers plan and deliver a rigorous curriculum that builds progression in knowledge and skills. They have freedom to deliver a curriculum that they have created and help children to see a purpose in their learning. We work hard to make links between all subjects and build on the children’s wealth of prior learning. Our curriculum is humanity and knowledge rich that builds empathy over time.

We want to convince staff and children that their voice can make a difference and that we can be co-agents of change.

In maths, we follow the White Rose Maths schemes. The progression in maths document for Years 1-6 can be found below.

To complement our Writing curriculum we also use Pathways to Read. Please find an overview below.

We use the Floppy's Phonics programme to teach phonics at St Chad's
