St Chad's Church of England Primary School

We currently have 7 classes, from Reception through Years 1 to 6.

At St Chad's CE Primary School we deliver a thematic curriculum in line with the new statutory guidance. This embraces an enquiry based approach to learning that allows children to ask questions. Each term teachers plan a variety of cross-curricular activities around a key focus; this could be a book, a picture, a poem, an artefact or a question. As a church school we adopt the "What If" approach to learning which helps to develop the Christian distinctiveness of our school by encouraging children to question how their learning can be linked to Christian values.

In KS1 we use the Jolly Phonics actions, Letters and Sounds and Phonics Play to help support phonics planning, teaching and learning.
We also use a range of reading schemes: Oxford Reading Tree, Floppy's Phonics, Project X, Snap Dragons and Story World.

At St Chad's we follow the Primary National Curriculum.
