Science

Subject led by Mrs Hardy

Here at St. Chad’s CE, we believe that developing and increasing pupils’ understanding and enjoyment of science is core to our curriculum. We will ensure that all children develop scientific knowledge, skills and understanding through a vocabulary-rich Science curriculum and engaging teaching of biology, chemistry and physics. This effective teaching and learning will help children develop an understanding of the nature, processes and methods of Science. They will experience different types of research and experimentation which will help them answer scientific questions about the world around them and this policy will ensure that high standards are achieved and that pupils make good progress at every stage.

Our Science lessons aren’t just limited to the classroom… we make use of our wonderful outdoor facilities including the woodlands, field and playground in order to maximise the children’s learning experiences. All classes from Nursery to Year 6 are frequent visitors to the local farm in Winsford. Farmer, Rosie links the learning at the farm to the class topics. This allows children to develop the key skills of investigation, problem solving and team work; empowering children to question the world around them and become scientific thinkers.
